Another first-year student is hooked on research. Laura Golebiousky's research paper for Dr Max Foran's first-year GNST 201 seminar on the city of Calgary has been accepted for publication by the longtime and highly respected journal, Alberta History.
 
Golebiowsky's study was a media analysis of the widespread reaction to the discovery of oil in Turner Valley in 1914. She studied newspaper coverage of the event from across Canada and internationally to assess the tone and reaction in different regions to the highly publicized economic boom to the province -- a boom that is strikingly familiar to Albertans today. 
 
Her article is scheduled for publication in Alberta History in Winter 2008.
