ccGirl here,
Your one and only source to all things CnC.
I feel like I haven't caught my breath in weeks. Between school assignments, trying to be involved, and battling that nasty cold going around (anyone else suffering?) I haven't gotten much sleep.
I popped by the CnC Clubs Office (SS 231) to heat up my chicken noodle soup and pick up my ticket to the Communication and Culture Networking Gala yesterday and started chatting with Christina Rontynen, the SU Faculty Representative. I told her about my recent struggles.
She admitted that making the most out of your student experience is a balancing act and she really didn't figure out how to manage her time until her third year in university. It was nice to know that she found time management challenging too. Christina explained that it is so important to be involved.
"Do what you love! Do what you are passionate about! Go to events that spark your curiosity!"
She is so passionate about getting students plugged in to things that they want to do. She told me she was talking to a student who said that she regretted not getting involved during her time at UofC. She was graduating without any memories of doing things she loved and without any activities to put on her resume to showcase her strengths and interests.
Christina told me not to feel like I had to do everything...especially during midterms and 3000 word paper deadlines. And she told me to never pass up the opportunity to do something I loved...even if it meant staying up late the next night to finish an assignment (this is where the balancing begins...). The SU Rep told me she has met some of her most valuable contacts by attending and volunteering at events that focused on her passions.
I'm totally feeling better about my own balancing act. It is nice to know I'm not alone.
Christina is saving me a seat at the Networking Gala on Thursday at 4pm. Maybe I'll gain some valuable contacts of my own there!
Until next time,
ccGirl
