Congratulations to Dr. Charles Tepperman and Laura Golebiowski.
Film Studies professor Dr. Charles Tepperman was awarded the Dissertation Award from the Society for Cinema and Media Studies for his dissertation, "Communicating a New Form of Knowledge: Tracing the Amateur Cinema League and its Films (1926 - 1954). The award carries a $1,000 prize and Tepperman received the award at a ceremony in March.
Laura Golebiowski, a second year Communication and Culture student received The Petroleum History Society's award for article of the year in 2007. She originally wrote her paper, a media analysis of the widespread reaction to the discovery of oil in Turner Valley in 1914, for her first year seminar General Studies 201. It was subsequently published in the journal, Alberta History. Golebiowski received the award at a March 26 ceremony at the Fairmont Palliser Hotel.
