Study African history, politics, and culture in Ghana, experience food culture in Spain, investigate gender and development issues in Thailand, all while gaining course credit - interested?
Each Communication and Culture degree has an intercultural requirement built into it which can be satisfied either through courses which examine other cultures, countries and languages here on campus or through participation in travel-study programs around the world.
Experiences abroad can take many forms - and not all of them involve course credit and studying! The University of Calgary helps facilitate group study programs, individual study programs, internships, practicums, volunteer and work positions. For more information, including travel funding and awards, visit the Centre for International Students and Study Abroad.
Keep in mind, the option of internationalizing your education through experiences abroad has relevance, not only to your degree, but also to your future career. Employers are increasingly looking for the adaptability, independence, global and cultural awareness, and communication skills, which students involved in experiences abroad have acquired.
