"Project Theatre India" is a grassroots project that is for a group of UofC students (both undergraduate and graduate invited) to engage in a cross-cultural learning experience. Through the University of Mysore in south India, the group will do community development projects in rural villages. The main work is 'social-based theatre', where through participatory action, oppression is investigated using simple theatre techniques. You do not have to be an 'actor', but should have an aptitude to be in front of others to engage them. Training is on-site. Approximate cost is $4000. Some grant money will be available. Dates are for 3 months either in Fall semester '07, or winter '08 - yet to be decided, let us know your preference. Space is limited so contact soon.
