Books:

The Madonna List - A novel by our own Faculty of Communication and Culture Associate Professor, Dr. Max Foran, is the #1 bestseller in Calgary and Edmonton and an Amazon.ca Top 30.

The Edmonton Journal calls the work “a profound but iconoclastic examination of Christian faith, religious fervour and the human psyche, with illicit love mixed in as well . . . [that] makes the Da Vinci Code read like a Grade 3 primer……Gorgeous. Harrowing. Wise.”

The Madonna List was the result of Dr. Max Foran's first effort at fiction writing instead of building academic arguments.

Though based in part on fact, The Madonna List is essentially about two men, one twisted and self-delusional; the other, lonely and full of self-doubt whose disparate paths cross in nineteenth century Australia. Then men are brought together by a list that is found on the body of St. Dominic and concealed in an ancient icon of the Madonna. Written solely for personal pleasure, thoughts of publishing never really entered Dr. Foran's mind, but encouragement from friends who read the manuscript changed that. Reviewers loved it and the book is going into its third printing -- no one more surprised than Dr. Foran himself. Almost all the former Eastern bloc countries have bought the rights to it, a fact that continues to puzzle and amuse the author. We are proud to have such a critically acclaimed and popular novelist in our Faculty.
