Research Interests:

Canadian film and literary history, western Canadian identity and peace and conflict issues.

Current Research: He is writing a book on Canadian film titled Film and the City: Urbanity in Canadian Cinema.  He is co-editing a second book on Canadian film titled: Canadian Women Film-Makers.  As well, he is editing a book of interviews with Canadian Film-makers titled: The Young, the Restless, and the Dead.

Professor Melnyk will be teaching in Fall 2007 (CNST 331) Issues in Canadian Film Culture (Block Week) and Film 305: Film in the City:  urbanity in Canadian cinema.

About Me:

George Melnyk is a cultural historian with a specialty in Canadian literature and film. He is also a writer on peace issues from a Canadian perspective.
