A first of its kind, invitation only event, Knowledge Mobilization for the Human Sciences 2005 took place September 30-October 4, 2005 at the Banff Centre and was sponsored by the University of Calgary, Athabasca University and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC).

This initiative brought together a diverse group of approximately 50 individuals who agreed to participate due to their sustained interest and experience in knowledge mobilization.

Representatives with a wide range of concerns, including those in academic research environments, the public sector, the private sector, charitable and community organizations, and the media, attended the symposium.
