"As an instructor, I design creative learning environments in which students take active roles as learners, collaborate with each other, and whenever possible link theory to communication practice outside of the classroom. In my professional communication and rhetoric courses, this often involves student projects that assist non-profit organizations in our local community. I mentor small groups and individuals, advising them as they plan or carry out research projects or revise drafts."

About:

"I am a scholar of rhetorical communication and rhetorical culture.  I enjoy working with others to design innovative projects, courses, and programs that enhance learning in a variety of settings.  I also work toward enhancing community-university partnerships in teaching, learning, service and research, especially in the Liberal Arts.  My larger goal is to understand and help people use ethical and effective rhetoric in relationships, organizations, civil society and the world.  I also investigate rhetorical culture in history to help us understand how it has transformed and enriched individual lives and human societies in the past."
