Weekend University

What is Weekend University?

Weekend University is a joint offering between:
  • Faculty of Communication & Culture and
  • Faculty of Continuing Education

Weekend University provides opportunity for a non-traditional student to complete a University degree through part-time study. Courses are offered on Saturdays.

Weekend University Programs

Students may complete the non-major interdisciplinary Communication & Culture degrees (Bachelor of General Studies or Bachelor of Arts in Communication & Culture) solely through attending classes on Saturdays.

Minors in Canadian Studies, Communications Studies, Management and Society and English are offered through this program. The Workplace Learning Minor is also accepted for the BA and BGS.

  • It is anticipated that additional Minor programs will be available in the near future.
  • Weekend University runs each year for three sessions, Fall, Winter and Spring.
  • Beginning in 2002, as a pilot program, morning courses will be offered in the Summer session.

Requirements

  • Students who begin their studies through Weekend University are not required to complete their degrees through Saturday study; they may if they wish transfer to regular full-time or part-time study.
  • Students wishing to study through Weekend University are expected to meet all of the requirements for admission to the Faculty of Communication & Culture and the University of Calgary.
